The Gaze

www.mikeweissgallery.com
Estimated Value: 12,000 USD

About the Artist:
"He is still a conceptual director of space with passion and intrigue, but he is also a portraitist with a message - an artist intent on breaking through the gender barrier and thus reveal the innermost desires of men and women, thus signaling a new era in which we may creatively and optimistically reveal not only who we are but what we want to become." - Robert Morgan, Art Press

Yigal Ozeri has exhibited extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Israel, and his work can be found in many prominent collections, including The Albertina Museum, Vienna; The Jewish Museum, New York; The Tel Aviv Museum of Art; the Kennedy Center for the Arts, Washington DC;, The Kuntzwerien, Wiesbaden, Germany; The Hudson valley center for contemporary art, Peekskill, NY; and the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston.

About the Artwork:
The Gaze is part of a series of works titled The Watcher paintings, confronting the viewer with a startled, wide-eye child whose shoulder has just been gripped by an authoritative adult’s hand. The image taps into universal childhood memories: buried narratives with no definitive tale.

Yochai Matos

Catalog # 48
Yochai Matos
Don't Let Gossip Miley
Estimated Value: 850 USD

About the Artist:
Born 1977, Israel. Lives and works in Tel Aviv. Matos' work deals with the public space as a property, with definitions of art, gender and the cross-points between them – how and when do representations of the art world and of the street come together. Matos is influenced by everything that connects culture in its broad, political sense, to a visual language – from ancient cave wall-paintings to pop and clubbing culture. His work is often defined as Activism – actions that negate violent demonstrations as a basis for dialog, and offer instead a softer, colorful solution – instead of constant complaints on how bad and evil the world is, Matos proposes injecting color in the most physical sense into the everyday life – and changing the mental human state through it.
