About the Artwork:
I began working on the series Aerial Views in 2007. The images in this series are photographs of works on paper. Working from memory I reconstruct imaginary landscapes seen from the air. The process of working on paper becomes one with the type of landscape it tries to trace. “Aerial View No. 1” offers a recording of mark-makings: the gestures of drawing, erasing, etching, cutting, tearing, concealing and revealing trace the typography of landscape at the same time that they outline the construction of its memory.
