About the Artist:
Tal Eshed is a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art & Design, Jerusalem Photography program (2001). Eshed has participated in various projects around the world, in art and media work. Tal studied expressive art therapy in Lesley University. Selected group exhibitions: The Art of Reconciliation, Washington DC, USA (2008), Wandering Library 2, Gallerie Cargo 21, Paris, France (2008) and Video Dance Festival, Tokyo, Japan (2003).
About the Artwork:
“Butterfly” is a series of posed photographic works that tell the story of a young girl that is finding her way in a world where adults are “not present”. Her journey takes her through some unpleasant experiences that force her to grown up and “mature” before her time. Her best friend is a “crying baby” doll who possibly reminds her own unheard cry. “Look at Me” is a work that invites the observer to take a deeper gaze, to give space and not overlook what is obvious to the eye of the beholder.
